I saw a couple of videos online about this new airbag system.

I have had the klim ai-1 airbag vest for a couple of years (almost 3 years) and knew the comfort and peace that comes knowing I have an airbag at 70 mph +.

I wanted the offroad airbag so I could use it for enduro, adventure and snowbiking.

Being able to easily toggle between enduro, rally and street was a big benefit IMO.

I also like that I wouldn’t be paying $12 a month for a subscription fee (which is required by the klim solution).

I currently have my klim airbag for sale on KSL.

At 6’5″ and 220 lbs ish, I got the tech air offroad in XL. It stretches when I put on the zipper.

If I take out the klim jacket shoulder and elbow armor, my klim s4 baja jacket works good. For winter my mosko moto basilisk works too.

It is currently 40 degrees and I went for about 30 min ride on the enduro with an undershirt and overshirt (Klim mojave shirt/jersey) and it seems pretty hot in the chest area, but the arms was really nice! I stopped and took off my undershirt and overshirt and it was much nicer, but only went for a few more minutes. I can’t imagine the sun beating down on BLACK and it being above 80 degrees. I REALLY hate riding enduro with anything above 75 as I sweat buckets. FULL gear, including knee braces and klim tactical pants with klim mojave(mesh) pants.

I went on the road at 40 degrees with my mesh klim jacket and went for about 20 minutes, the sleeves would have been too cold for a longer ride.

Looks like the inner part can be separated and washed.

If I could change anything, I would have the plastic armor for chest area for more airflow, there is a tiny bit of airflow in the chest area. I would also change BLACK, grey would be SO much better in the son! Black increases the color by 20 degrees IMO.

I weighted it and it is 7.4 lbs, which seems very heavy for what it is.

I did run my klim arsenal 15 pack, I did loosen the straps. I hear that if the airbag goes off, it could break the straps. Which is better than being less effective. I called alpinestars and they info’d me the potential to break straps and wouldn’t impact effectiveness. The manual did say if the airbag goes off, if you have sharp items in your pockets it could compromise the airbag and push those objects into your body.

I’ll do an update as I get more experience, but first impression it seems pretty great!
