I’ve had my ktm 500 for a few years(Sept 2022 I finally talked my buddy into selling me his ktm 500), but I mostly ride my 300 2stroker and Tenere 700. But I love having the 500 around for “tour of Idaho” or GRIT or small dual sport needs.

I’ve had it as a timbersled snow bike too, but I got Montana plates and now I want it to last a long time.
I had a 3.2 gallon tank, but with RockyMtn ATVMC I could get another 4.2 for $170 ish so I did that.
I noticed the wheels were very untrue, so I did the best I could and they still wobbled a lot so I took them in to be trued up. $180
The horn was broken off, I got a new one and relocated it up near the headlight and it still didn’t work (after troubleshooting I couldn’t figure it out) so I took it to impulse and they charged me $175 to replace a wonkie fuse, I checked all the normal fuses, but this one was an inline cylinder/tubular fuse. I have since put a more traditional fuse inline (cut and spliced) so I can use the spare fuses onboard the bike in the future.
New Tusk Dsport tires front and back. $150 ish for both.
I removed the air tubes and put foam tubes in…that was a major “hard work” because its cold outside the the tusk dsport are super stiff…and I’m pretty sure I have the wrong size of foam tubes.
New ODI lock-on grips.
air filter with 2-3 filter skins with 2-3 spares in the airbox with a small ziplock bag. Spare air filter in luggage.
Last year I got a taco moto fuel pump that I installed, but the hoses didn’t seem right so I took it to alpine xc for them to harden it. Turns out I reversed one of the hoses, but it still ran somehow! I noticed it was jet’d fuel inside the tank while running, so I took it in and they got proper hoses and clamps. $170.
As a snowbike I had a thermobob and the hoses needed massive splicing, so I took the snowbike stuff off and put samco hoses for the rad. Now I won’t lose sleep. $153.
I got sucked back into Trail Tech Voyager pro, so I bought one off KSl cuz all the mounts, docks, guards etc I pretty much got a good deal on everything. $450
My carbon fiber exhaust gaurd had vibrated itself apart and broken from a few drops 😉 so I replaced it and the skid plate. $150-170 ish.
I got my drone remote mounted and my DMD2 gps mounted, I may just run the trail tech.
I strap’d my sandals onto the front fender so when we stop I can take my moto boots off and air out a bit. We are without trailer support the 1st night so I have my shorts/clean shirt ready to go in the small mosko saddle bags.
I removed one side of the mosko bags and put giant loop 1 gallon water bag with spray pump for less weight on my back. I do plan to put 1-2 liters in my hydration pack, but having a reserve just in case is NICE. If it gets hot, I can spray a little water on my neck/chest arms as we moto.
I decided to bring my alpine stars airbag. If working really hard in hard enduro its way too hot, but adventure riding its not so bad on BDRs even above 100 degrees if you are moving.
In 2021 I took my Tenere 700 to Baja and my drone came just a few days after we left, so I’m bringing my drone this time and I hope to get some epic footage.
On my shake out ride I discovered my mirror would shake out of alignment off road. So I got a new mount. I also heard scratching when going through large bumps. It was my exhaust guard for my saddle bags. So I trimmed the hose clamp and moved it so it has the best chance of not hitting my tire on full compression of the rear shock.
I found a couple of loose/missing bolts too.
My buddy Justin 3d printed a front brake line holder that keeps the brake line from hitting your gps and bends more like a yamaha. Its really sweet! If it survives baja, he is ready to sell.

Riding gear, a rain jacket and a mosko moto marino wool hoodie should be just fine.I’m running the mojave pants and shirt. I got a klim -1 under shirt that should be evaporative cooling if its wet.
I’m trying to go light as possible.
Here is all my gear:

One duffle for the trailer (for evenings and overnight) and one for my riding gear.
